I'm going to miss G. Dub... :(

Or not...

Bienvenidos todos!!!

My name is Ashley Whitlock from San Jose, CA, I love coffee, and I cannot wait until this recession is OVAH! I currently work at Starbucks as an assistant manager and if you've been following the news, then you're all aware that SBux is one of the corporate giants getting hit hard. Labor cuts, strategic store closings, layoffs on a corporate level dispirit some of us partners as well as customers on the longevity of the company during this economic downturn. Luckily for me, I've adopted the attitude that ignorance is bliss and that I'm impervious to any mishappenings. My place in the job market is secure, and the U.S. is an economic machine low on energy that just needs its battery changed (that battery being Obama). Ahh.... whatever helps me sleep at night. ;)

I've had a few opportunities to study communication prior to this class - Critical Decision Making. The piece of information from that course that resonated with me the most is that in situations like a dialogue, communication is a two-way streak; it takes a listener and a speaker, or a sender and a receiver for nonverbal situations. My major is French which brings about a plethora of new communication styles as I learn about the French culture. As for this class I hope to gain a wealthier knowledge of rhetoric and oratory. I want a firmer grasp of eloquence and to also have a mastery of conciseness.
